Re: Cam Timing

Jeez, not much happening round here. Don't worry about the timing as ive discovered that I cant time in the cam without removing the engine, so you can get access to the end of the cam with a dial gauge. Well that's what it looks like to me. I'm not doing that again (just to time cams) Also for some...

Cam Timing

Hi, its been a while since my last visit (the race bike is going awesome)
Ive got some YZF 750 cams and lookin at slotting the sprockets and dialing in the cams with degree wheel.
What degrees should I set them too?
Its otherwise basically a stock engine.
Thanks

clutch basket. gimme slip please

Hi again. Need advice on best clutch plates to get me off the line at the race track. My fzr1000 (race bike) currently has EBC Kevlar frictions in, and getting off the start line in races is bloody hopeless. Even if I concentrate and feather the clutch it grabs, slips, grabs, slips, grabs...... off ...

Re: Tethered kill switch type?

If the "Normal" state is with the tether pulled, then you'd want the NO variant if you're tapping into the kill switch. Make sure it's rated for 10+ amps. Thanks Don. That's a good question. What is "Normal"? I would expect normal is with the tether not pulled cos things aren't ...

Tethered kill switch type?

Going to enter Burt Munro street race in November and must have tethered kill switch for this. What type do I need? I think there is basically two types, normally open or closed. And do I just tap into the right handlebar kill switch? (I still have one)FZR1000 89 Got another race bike so I can run t...

Re: Crash Protection Options for the Bike

These bikes actually hold up well in a sliding crash. About two months ago at the track I lost the rear exiting a fast corner on back straight (about 100mph) and slid down middle of track for about 120meters. Didn't do any mechanical damage except wore about 1/4 inch of aluminium of three places and...

Re: Total loss on 89 1k

Well ive done the job. Machined up a plug on the lathe at work, installed and went for a 20 minute ride round my test circuit on the outskirts of town. I think I did notice a slight increase in power. COOL. Before I started bike I had 13.4V in my Shorei lithium battery. after 20 mins there was 13.2V...

Re: 1988 FZR 1000 Build

BUGGER. Sorry man. You must be gutted.
What sort of chain was it? Cos I thought and im fairly sure the timing chain (yammy) is a DID endless chain with no master.
But I may be wrong here.

slick rear tyre size

I picked up a set of Dunlop slicks KR106 and 108 for my track bike half price. Never used slicks yet. P.O said he ran them on same bike 89 1K.
rear is 195/70 17 says on tyre for 5.75-6.25 rim but my rim is 5.50
Will it fit?
