Re: Air Filter Experiences/ OEM vs Pods

For street use, go with the stock airbox. They aren't particularly expensive or hard to find. Tuning pods through the rev range IS possible, but they are quite finicky. It is most certainly NOT a matter of just slapping on the pods and off you go ...

It's 3 separate parts, with different part numbers; as you say, long rod, short rod, ball.

Re: Easy way to bypass EXUP valve?

Your cables are badly out of adjustment. The fork on the pulley should align with the hole in the housing at idle.

Postage from the UK is surprisingly reasonable. Limey, have you priced it up?

Re: Easy way to bypass EXUP valve?

Depending on which year your bike is, unplugging the EXUP may cause the TCI to limit the revs to 4k rpm. Assuming you were idling the engine when you switched off the key or kill switch, the EXUP will be in the closed position. You can disconnect the cables, and pin / wire the valve pulley in either...

Re: Upgrade to digital speedo - what can I use?

I'm pretty sure the Yellow/Black tach signal is a 12v square wave, readable by just about any aftermarket tach. If the wire going to the tach is grey (older models), then it's a high-ish voltage (15-100v) flyback pulse, and may / may not be readable / survivable by whatever you're using.

Quick and easy check - connect the pump wires to 12v and ground. Does anything happen?

Re: Location of Sender Unit (FZR600R/YZF600R)

There are 3 wires coming out of a 4JH internal pump - green, blue and black. The green is from your sending unit, which is part of the pump assembly. Check for resistance across the green and black wires. Check for security and condition of the wires and terminals in the pump - harness connectors, a...

Re: '90 FZR 600 Regulator/Rectifier help

First, confirm it isn't the stator by measuring the AC voltage across the 3 white wires at 4k rpm (1-2, 1-3, 2-3). You should see 30-60vac. The design in question is somewhat less reliable than the latest and greatest units found on the R1 etc, but is still far superior to the 25yo units that were a...

Nope. If the tank is sufficiently full, the bike will run with the pump installed but unplugged.

Re: Water through carbs

If so, the fuel "should" drain to outside, no? Unfortunately, with these being downdraft carbs, the fuel level hits the top of the nozzle before it hits the breathers, so - yeah, it drains into the engine. Very common complaint with these bikes that have sat for awhile; a bit of rust from...

Re: Vance & Hines PowerPak

If you don't find someone to trade with, I can make an adaptor that will allow you to plug the 49 State PowerPak into your Cali harness. US$50 plus 10 for the mail man.
