The wiring harness is officially done. I lopped about 2 feet off the front end of it. The tail that went to the stock headlight/guages/turn signals is now all contained within the frame. ALL wire connectors are inside the frame. Now the only wiring I need to do is for the headlight when it gets here, and thats just a matter of splicing on the correct harness plug. This algo gives me more room inside the frame without a giant wire snake coiled up ready to bit. I will need to add a few relays for some items and now I have the room to do it. Need to make a little bracket first though . There's always something left to do.

and im assuming you mean getting poked by random loose bits of copper braid? not once, Im good at stripping wire, even using scissors. I love my Kleins!

I finally replaced the power drill that my douchbag roommate stole a while back, so i was able to drill and tap my triple for my speedo mount. I got the wrong size bolt(brainfart) and need to go to Ace tmrw and get a proper black pan head screw for it. But I didnt think this all the way through. I now have aluminum shavings in my carpet. Shit.

My bike is clean, there's no grease. There is a giant banner under the bike to catch stuff, but I sneezed and the littel chips went everywhere. Oops.

I got my new coils today and my new starter. The starter looks HOT with its fresh powdercoat!! So my starter no longer shoots sparks when the bike cranks. And the coils test good, unlike the other 2 pairs i have. But NOW my main fucking relay is bad!! And of course the 2 spares I have are no fucking where to be fucking found. So now I have to try and track down another GD relay to FINALLY start this bitch after 2 years!! DAMMMMMIIIIITTTTTT!!!!! The relay has a bad diode in it. I was going to replace it and use it until I can get a new one, but Radio Shack is worthless and only carries like 3 diodes now. F'ing useless company. I hate that place.

Today has been one thing after another! I bought a new rivet gun today to make my front seat bracket. Popped the first rivet, the post got jammed inside and broke off. Now it is 100% useless. So now I get to try and exchange it with a broken rivet in it. At least its a craftsman.

At least today wasnt a total wash. I managed to bend the front seat bracket and found a screw that would work to hold it together, and it worked better than the one rivet I had which has already come loose, so Im going to pick up a matching nut and screw tmrw to replace it since it seems more secure. The bracket isnt elegant at all, but it gets the job done, and no one will ever see it. I also had to cut a few inches off teh back of the YZF tank to clear the bracket, but I knew Id have to do that. The tank bolts directly to the subframe, so it doesnt matter.

Now that I have the seat and tank firmly mounted, I have a small gap between the front of the seat and the tank due to having to trim the R1 seat. It had a tighter radius than the YZF tank. So I have to come up with some method to address this that is unobtrusive.

I also mounted my coolant bottle. This thing is perfect! I bought it a few months back from Walgreens for $3. Its stainless steel and already came this color. It matches perfectly. I still need to do some shaping on the cap, but thats it. The thing is perfect, it even has a O-ring seal around the cap. Should work out nicely I think.

I got a nice new powdercoated starter installed and my new ignition coils. Radio Shack did not carry the diode that popped in the main relay. I was going to try to fix it so I could at least start it and tune it over the weekend while I was waiting for a new one to come in. But no such luck. All Radio Shack sells is TVs and batteries now. If you need a small ciruit part, it better be a common one otherwise you SOL. I also managed to finally firmly mount my speedo. Nice and simple, yet effective.

Im calling it a freaking day.

i had to cut my seat down too cause the 03 05 seat doesent match the tank and the 99 02 seat doesent wrap around the tail i pulled the seat top up in the front and twisted up a rag and put it around the front edge then stapeled the covering on it looks alright

YAY! The first coolest thing ever showed up today! My headlight!! I need to get some new brackets to mount it. The one I have isnt going to work without major mods, and its cheap and not worth it, so Im going to have to wait a little while to mount it, but I need to address my rediculously long throttle cables first because theyre in the way. i think a call to motion pro might help me out if the service rep on the phone is feeling helpful. Now back to the headlight.

This thing is sweet! Its a custom one off piece, dual projectors(stamped DOT motorcycle!) with integrated turn signals. Its made from a 1/8" aluminum frame and uses H3 bulbs. I need to get one new bulb. I think the way it was originally set up on the bike it came from, was one bulb had a ground wire, and the chassis was grounded and the other bulb grounded that way. But these are isolated, and one bulb only has one wire, so I just need to swap to a dual wire and call it good. They will be wired with the top light for low beam, and the bottom for hi. When the hi is one, the low will stay on. They also have integrated LED turn signals. And this headlight cost me less than most of the streetfighter headlight setups out there by quite a bit. Since I dont have the correct mounts yet, I did a little photochopping to see what it would look like. I LOVE it! Monday should bring the coolest thing ever number 2!

Yeah, I saw some pics last night. Looks AWESOME! Ive got a milk crate full of parts for him already, but gotta get it started first. This winter, he's getting a bunch of stuff from me.
